From sunup to past sunset Saturday, downtown Adairville will be busy constantly. The Adairville Strawberry Festival will reach a climax with lots of food, rides, patriotism, historic drama, music, and, of course, a parade.
The traditional pancake breakfast gets the day started at the fire station #2 at11070 Mashvolle Road from 6-9 a.m. Meals are by donation for those eating inside or $10 for to-go orders.
A variety of foods and other items will be available for several hours from vendors around the square, beginning at 10 a.m.
The official start of the day’s activities will be a performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at noon. The Jackson-Dickenson Dual Reenactment is scheduled for 12:10 p.m., followed by the "Strawberry Fields of Freedom Parade" at 2 p.m. The parade will feature patriotic floats and a golf cart-decorating contest, with cash prizes awarded for first, second, and third place.
Charles Brindley will serve as Grand Marshal, and the festival will be dedicated to businessman Charles Davis. His family’s Adairville Hardware Store on the square has always been a symbol of Adarville Business Solidarity.
Retiring Adairville Elementary School Principal Lori Bouldin and her successor, Cindy Beason, are expected to be honored. They have work closely much of this decade with Beason the assistant principal.
Evening entertainment includes Jun & Friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., followed by Water Buffalo from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
