Remembering Together by Geoff Baggett—described as the “Revolutionary War In A Trunk”—is coming to Logan County this week. The Logan County Genealogical Society posts, “Join us for an educational evening with Geoff Baggett as he dives into the American Revolution during his presentation, Revolutionary War in a Trunk, on July 10 at 6 p.m. in the courtroom of the historic Logan County Courthouse. This is a free event and open to all ages.
“This hands on, interactive program is fun for all ages! Baggett brings to his listeners an old wooden trunk full of interesting items and military equipment from the Revolutionary War period. His presentation utilizes reproductions of 18th century weaponry, camp tools and equipment, clothing, toys, personal hygiene items, and other everyday necessities. This trunk full of Colonial “treasures” helps bring to life the reality of living on the Virginia and Kentucky frontier in the 1770s.”
The Simpson County Historical Society, which is hosting Baggett and his program later this month, posted on Facebook this description:
“Geoff Baggett is a retired pastor and active speaker from Trigg County, Ky. Though his formal education and degrees are in the fields of chemistry, biology, and Christian theology, his hobbies and obsessions are genealogy and Revolutionary War history. He is an active member of the Sons of the American Revolution and has discovered over 20 Patriot ancestors in his family tree.
“Geoff’s historical fiction novels are the products of his dual interest in genealogy and Revolutionary War history. The Patriots that he writes about are ancestors from his own family tree or from his wife’s family tree. Therefore, each volume is a “labor of love”. His desire is to complete two ten-volume collections (one for adults/ one for children) focusing upon little-known Patriots and the ordinary folk who fought in the American Revolution.”
In addition to the Logan County Genealogical Society, local sponsors are the Russellville Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Colonel Bejamin Logan National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Logan County Tourist Convention & Commission, the America 250 Commission and the Kentucky Historical Society
This program is sponsored overall by Kentucky Humanities, the Federation of State Humanities Councils, the America 250 Commission and the Kentucky Historical Society.
