On Jan. 25 at the Logan County Agriculture Appreciation Breakfast, Logan County 4-H auctioned off two country hams. The hams were cured by Logan County 4-Hers during the 2017 4-H Country Ham project at Clifty Farms.

One of the hams was donated by Clifty Farms while Logan County 4-H'er Warren Michael Whitson, donated a second ham for auction. The proceeds went to Logan County 4-H Council for 4-H Camp, scholarships, and other activities.

4-H Agent Carrie Derossett says, “Thank you to our country ham buyers, Champion Pet Foods ($500), Lewisburg Banking Company ($205), Trembley Pool & Spa LLC ($50), JG Cates Farm ($50), Marilyn Dillingham ($50), Price Funeral Home ($50), and H&H Sheet Metal ($50).

Also, we would like to thank Haley Auctions and Realty for auctioning the hams

Steer/Market Heifer Tag-in

The KUIP Steer/Market Heifer Tag-in at the Kentucky Beef Expo will be Saturday, March 3 from 11-noon at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in Louisville. If you plan on tagging your steer or market heifer in, please make sure that you have signed forms and are eligible to be tagged with 6 hours for 4-H signed off by your certified leader and 4-H Agent or a signature from FFA advisor to verify membership, as well as fill out the location of your animal on the back and have all of the proper signatures on that side of the form. Both sides of the paperwork must be completed and signed.

Please make sure that you have the tag fee, $4 per animal, with you at the time you tag-in your animal, along with all of the proper paperwork. Please pass this information on to all members that you know may be tagging at this site. Checks will need to be written out to Spencer County 4-H Livestock Club or exact cash is needed. We will not have any change.

If they do not have all of the proper papers, they will not receive tags.

4-H/FFA License Plates

It’s that time of year again to renew your farm license plates. Last year Kentucky 4-H programs received almost $210,000 from the donations made by farmers when they renewed their farm tags. Let’s double that number this year and bring more money to support our future farmers and leaders!
