The Russellville Lady Panthers outscored visiting Caldwell County 15-8 in the third quarter on the way to a 46-45 win over visiting Caldwell County last Tuesday.

Coach Calvin Head’s team trailed by as many as 11 points in the first half and were behind 25-20 at the half, but that third quarter surge put them up 35-33 going into the fourth quarter.

Despite foul trouble that included Tatyana Peterson fouling out early in the quarter, the Lady Panthers secured the win.

The Lady Tigers were up by two when the RHS defense forced a turnover. Senior Loreal Cheaney tied the game with four seconds remaining. Then she hit the winning free throw that resulted from the play.

Cheaney finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds. She hit 5 of 8 two-point shots and 6 of 7 free throws.

Gabbi Poirier joined her in double figures with 10 points. Srianna Allen added 6, Peterson 4, Addie Hendley 3 and Makayla Davis 2.

Camryn Clift scored 14 points for Caldwell County and Chandra Litchfield added 11. Coach Malissa Thomas’ team tried only three 3-point shots, all by Litchfield. She hit one.
