Lady Panthers beat Butler County in season opener

The Russellville Lady Panthers turned on the scoring in the fourth quarter Thursday in winning at Butler County 58-53.

Coach Calvin Head’s second season at the helm started slowly with the Lady Bears taking a 14-7 lead. The Lady Panthers, however, won each of the final three quarters by 6, 2 and 4 points to take the victory.

Loreal Cheaney led the winners with 28 points and Devoyna Bryant added 15.

Maddie Murphy led Coach Brian Bivens’ Lady Bears with 15 points.

The Lady Panthers play Warren East on the road Monday. The Lady Raiders lost 52-31 Thursday to the same Edmonson County team which beat Logan County by nine earlier in the week.
