The Olmstead Middle School Lady Rams recently returned from attending Belmont University’s Lady Bruins basketball camp in Nashville.  This was the fourth consecutive year that the Lady Rams have attended the Belmont camp, and it was their most successful summer trip and experience.

The overnight camp was held June 11 – 13, and the camp consisted of high school and middle school teams from multiple states.  The Lady Rams played nine games over three days, with six of the nine games versus high school JV squads.

The squad showed tremendous heart and effort, finishing the weekend with a record of 7-2.  The record included victories over Athens Academy High School JV (Athens, Ga.), Prescott Middle School (Cookeville, Tenn.), Evangelical Christian School JV (Memphis), Randolph High School JV and Middle School (Huntsville, Ala.), North Oldham High School JV (Goshen), and Cullman High School JV (Cullman, Ala.).  Other opponents included South Fentress Middle School (Jamestown, Tenn.) and Harpeth Hall High School JV (Nashville).

The Lady Rams have won five straAight Logan County championships.

The team is excitedly awaiting the 2015-2016 season, which will include matchups with all of their future 13th District high school basketball opponents as well as some other strong 3rd and 4th region teams.  Plus, the Lady Rams hope to once again participate in the Kentucky State Middle School tournament, hosted by the Kentucky Basketball Academy in Lexington.

The camp participants were Ali Atkinson, Harley Robertson, Lilly Newman, Paige Vanzant, Peyton Vanzant, Brea Croslin, Hannah Matthews, Chely Laster, and Kara Noffsinger.  The team is coached by Daniel Alvis assisted by Chris Wilcutt.A
