Tahmir Graham had his best scoring night in three years Tuesday, as he led the Logan County Cougars to a 61-46 win on the road against an Allen County-Scottsville team which had won 10 of its last 12 games.

The outcome wasn’t as good for the Lady Cougars, who lost 60-42 to the Lady Patriots. AC-S was led by University of Kentucky signee Morgan Rich, who scored 26 points and pulled down 8 rebounds.

Graham, who was injured most of the last two seasons, scored 22 points for Coach Lonnie Mason’s team. He also had 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Graham needed to play big, since post players Ben Wright and Taylor Blakemore each had his playing time reduced significantly because of foul trouble.

The Cougars trailed 28-27 at the half, but took the third quarter 11-6 and then turned on by outscoring their hosts 23-13 in the final eight minutes.

Wright finished with 11 points and 6 rebounds, none of them coming on the offensive end. In fact, AC-S super statistician Donnie Meador only saw the Cougars pull down four boards from their own glass. Baldwin totaled 8 points while Blakemore and Garrison Rosser each scored 7.

Junior Austin Bagby earned his first career start, but regular Tucker Baldwin played most of the game.

Rosser had four assists with Noah Whittinghill and Graham each recording three.

Logan’s record rose to 11-4 while Coach James Willett’s Patriots fell to 10-5.

AC-S’ Dyllan Harper, a 6-6 senior, scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds, both about two below his season averages. He ranks seventh all-time in scoring for the Patriots in the 40 seasons since Allen County and Scottsville high schools merged with 1,071 points.

Morgan Rich was too much for the Lady Cougars to handle. Not only did she score 26 points, but she also led the Lady Patriots with 8 rebounds. Savannah Gregory was right behind with 20 points and 6 rebounds.

For Logan, Taleia Mason scored 13 and added 2 each of assists and steals. Maegann Hardison hit a trio of 3-pointers on the way to 11 points. Brooke Barnes had 7 rebounds. Torrie Pollard had 3 assists and 2 steals.

The Lady Patriots’ record improved to 12-3 while the Lady Cougars’ worksheet fell to 10-5.
