Sophomore Sye Head finished fifth in competition with over 100 runners and the Cougars placed fifth among nine large schools in Logan County’s opening cross Country event of the year, the Warren East Raider Twilight Run at Ephraim White Park on Sept. 4

Coach Greg Howard’s team placed behind Brentwood, North Hardin, Edmonson County and South Warren while besting Owensboro, Greenwood, Allen County-Scottsville and LaRue County. South Warren was fourth with its top five runners totaling 98 points. Logan had a composite score of 105 and Owensboro Senior was a distant sixth at 140.

The Tennessee team’s runners averaged a time of 17:44.5 on the 5K distance while North Hardin averaged 17:56.44, Edmonson 18:04.86, South Warren 118:19.44, Logan 18:33.99, Owensboro 19:09.93, Greenwood 19:24.48, AC-S 21:51.41 and LaRue 24:09.12. Individual runners competed from Franklin-Simpson, Warren Central and Warren East.

“I can’t begin to say enough about the improvements in both teams. If you look at our times from the first meet last year and the times starting out this year we are in for another great year,” Howard said.

“South Warren and Edmonson County are AA teams that are looking to run strong at the State Championships in November, and we are right there with them. Beating Greenwood for the first time in a while is sweet also. If you look at all the runners from middle school to high school it is very exciting to see so much improvement and especially the younger runners that will help continue the strong tradition we’ve established here at LCHS.”

The top 10 male finishers are listed as well as their classes and times. Other Cougar runners are also shown along those who finished directly in front or behind them.
