LCHS teams go 3-0 versus RHS in Clashes of the Cats

Within a few days of each other, three teams representing Logan County High School won matches against Russellville in a series of Cat Clashes.

Cougar teams won 6-0 in boys soccer, 9-1 in girls soccer, and 25-6, 25-5 and 25-2 in volleyball.

Boys Soccer

Andrew Katz scored two goals for Coach ‘s Cougars with Zachary Matthews, Ethan Haley, Seth Burchett, and Thomas Bilyeu connecting on one each in the 6-0 win. Luke Davenport and Dalton Thompson added an assist each.

Starting goalkeeper Parker Bray stopped all seven Panther shots on goal. Christian Hines also spent time in goal.

Panther goalkeeper Nathan Cates successfully stopped 14 of the Cougars’ 20 shots.

Girls Soccer

Addie Corder scored four goals, Kadyn Costello three and Peyton Vanzant two for the 9-1 winners. Morgan Gafford and Carli jo Bruner were both credited with an assist.

Lady Cougar goalkeepers Brady Alsup and Hannah Matthews each stopped two of the Lady Panthers’ five shots. RHS scored against Matthews.

Lily Pacheco scored the lone Lady Panther goal. It was unassisted.

RHS goalkeeper Aliyah Kennedy stopped 15 of the Lady Cougars’ shots on goal.

Volleyball

Logan reported only one statistic on the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Scoreboard—kills. Onahka Fuller had five, Rachel Dezarn four, Michal Page and Navaeh DeArmond three each, Madelyn Yonts two and Hayley Schweers one.

Russellville doesn’t report volleyball statistics.
