Coach Jeff Noffsinger’s Logan County Lady Cougar Tennis Team had a strong first round showing in this year's regional tournament Monday. Four Lady Cougar entries totaling six girls won their matches to advance.

Katie Noffsinger won her singles match 6-1, 6-0 to advance to the second round where she'll now face the Region's #3 ranked player, Brooklyn Brown of Glasgow. They met earlier in the season with Brown winning 6-3, 6-2. First serve is at 4 p.m. at Warren Central High School.

Camden Williams won a marathon match against Russell County's Bailey Hart. Williams lost the first set 4-6 but rallied in the second set to win 6-3. The two then played a superset 10 point tie-breaker where Williams pulled away in convincing fashion, winning 10-2 to advance to the second round of singles play and will now the Region's #2 seeded Konner Gallagher of Metcalfe County.

In girls doubles action Bell Bond and Hannah Goss made quick work of the first set by winning 6-0 before having to grind out a 6-4 win in the second set to advance over Metcalfe's Russell & Bennett. Bond & Goss will now play in tonight's 2nd round of Regional action.

In the other girls doubles action Logan's Lauren Barnes and Kara Noffsinger defeated Bowling Green's Qu & Smith 6-4, 6-2. In the first set Barnes & Noffsinger fell behind 3-4 but rallied to take the next three games to close out the set. Then trailing 2-1 early in the 2nd set, Barnes made six consecutive baseline rally shots, finally passing both Bowling Green players with an alley shot down the side that caught the line and swung the momentum for the Cougars.  After taking a 4-2 lead in the second set, Kara Noffsinger made consecutive net shots to break the serve of Smith. Noffsinger then served out the match to get win.

All of these ladies will be back in action tonight in 4th Region play.
