RHS Principal's Report for March 24 
School will be in session all this week. Originally, Spring Break was slated to start on Wednesday of this week, but RISD will be making up the following dates on Wednesday through Friday:
Wednesday – Makeup for 8/21, which was the Eclipse Day.
Thursday – Makeup for 9/1, which was missed due to heavy rains and area flooding.
Friday – Makeup for 1/12, which was missed due to snow. 
College Fair and Operation Preparation this Week 
 Wednesday will be a busy day for Russellville students at both RMS and RHS. 8th and 9th Graders, will travel to the Logan Career and Technical Center for Operation Preparation. Put together by the combined efforts of RJSHS FRYSC Coordinator Debbie Browder and RISD’s Penni Nugent, students will get to rotate through a wide variety of potential professions from the Logan/Russellville area and get the opportunity to speak with local business owners and leaders about what to expect from the area job market. 
At RHS, new College and Career Coach Cassady Wilson has 10th and 11th Graders will spend the first half of the day in a College Fair  where they will be meeting with college, military, and technical school representatives in the HS gym. Here, students will get information about schools, military, and post high school schooling. 
Hunter McDowell wins at 
Regional, Headed to State
RHS Junior Hunter McDowell took 1st place at the Skills USA Regional Competition at Logan CTC this past week. McDowell was the top finisher in the area of Job Skills Demo and has now qualified to compete at state later this year. McDowell was one of several winners from the area in this competition that focuses on Career and Technical skills and proficiency with an emphasis on transitional readiness to the industrial and technical workforce in the 21st century job market. 
Deep Dive Day this Friday for Seniors 
Russellville Seniors will travel to LCTC this Friday for their third Deep Dive Day as part of the Russellville Ready Program. Seniors will take the Financial Literacy test as well as working on their Panel Review presentations that will be made to a panel of school and community members. 
Several RHS Students Headed to 
FCCLA State Leadership Conference
Jayden Hammer (Competing in Career Investigation), Jasmaine Loving (Chapter Delegate), and Madison Creek (Chapter Delegate) will all be in Louisville this week as they represent the RHS chapter of the FCCLA Club. 
Summer Dual Credit Classes Now Available 
 Students may now sign up for Dual Credit classes through WKU for this summer. Classes are $53 per credit hour, a significant saving when compared to taking classes as a traditionally enrolled college student. Students interested in more information can contact WKU at: (270) 745-34 18

ACT Success 
This past Tuesday, RHS Juniors participated in the state-wide taking of the ACT. Students took the test as a class in the Middle School gym. RHS, while being one of the smallest area HS’s already has multiple students who have scored over a 30 on the ACT as well as several that have scored 34 or higher including current sophomore Ben Slack. Success on the ACT has played a big role in RHS students earning placements at the prestigious Gatton (Phillip Wilkerson and Anna Shoulders) and Craft (Matthew Wilkerson) Academies. 
Community Education Art 
Classes Being Offered at RHS

Sports Happenings                                                        
MS Cheer 
There will be MS Cheer Practice this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:30 to 5 at Stevenson Elementary. Girls interested in trying out are encouraged to participate. Tennis
Russellville Tennis picked up where they left off, as they took home several wins against visiting Butler Co.unty this past week. Below were the winners:

Jacob Naylor – Singles Winner
Tennis travels to Greenwood on Tuesday, hosts Franklin on Thursday.
Archery 
The Russellville Archery Team takes their shooting skills on the road this week as they travel to Louisville to compete at the state archery tournament. At Regionals, the boys finished 8th and the girls 14th. 
Baseball  
The RHS Baseball team traveled to Warren Central this past week where they fell to the Dragons. This week, weather permitting, they will host Logan on Tuesday. On Saturday, they travel to UHA for an 11 a.m. game against UHA and a 1 p.m. game against Marshall County.  
The RMS Baseball teams have a couple of games this week. Weather permitting, they will host Madisonville North Hopkins on Monday and Hopkinsville on Thursday.
Softball 
RHS Softball kicked off their first season under new Head Coach Ryan Davenport with a pair of wins. The Lady Panthers downed Warren Central on Thursday by a score of 12-1 and then traveled to Monroe County where they out-slugged the Falcons 12-9. 7th Grader Jaylah Kees hit her first homerun of the season against the Dragons. 
This week, softball travels to Edmonson County on Monday, hosts Trigg County on Tuesday, and travels to Todd County on Thursday. The All A Region kicks off this Saturday for the Lady Panthers. 
Soccer 
Soccer off-season workouts will begin the Monday following Spring Break. This will be for girls and boys players. Anyone interested in knowing more may contact Coach Rust at: Jeremy.rust@logan.kyschools.us

RMS Track traveled to South Warren this past week where several young ladies had good runs.
