Last week held no dull moment for the Logan County FFA chapter. With National FFA Week in full swing, the chapter was bustling about from activity to activity, ultimately preparing for the week’s most exciting event—officer elections.

On Monday, all members were invited to participate in an after-school cornhole tournament. Members brought finger-foods and drinks, played ping-pong, and competed in the tournament. At the end of the night, Andrew Milam and Dalton Nash walked away with the first place trophy.

Tuesday was Dress Like A Cowboy Day. Belt buckles, flannel shirts, and cowboy hats were seen all throughout the hallways of Logan County High School, reminding students that it was National FFA Week.

On Wednesday, a club meeting was held during school for all FFA members. Students were informed of all FFA Week activities and encouraged to participate. Near the end of the meeting, the 2016-2017 officer candidates introduced themselves and provided some entertainment by collectively singing the country hit International Harvester.

Thursday was Drive Your Tractor To School Day. Along with this, all officer candidates were dressed in their blue corduroy jackets ready for elections. Each candidate went through an application and interview process, with the retiring officers serving as the panel. The panel had an excruciating amount of work cut out for them with so many qualified and dedicated candidates running. After seven hours of interviews and deliberation, the 2016-2017 officer team was established and announced.

On Friday, FFA members had the opportunity to participate in the Cleanest Truck Day competition. Congratulations to Alex Hughes for winning that competition. Once at school, all FFA members were invited to the Ag Shop to have breakfast. This was a great chance to meet the new officers and congratulate everyone on all their hard work. It was a time to unwind, relax, and conclude the week.

National FFA Week was quite a success and full of excitement. The Logan County FFA Chapter would like to thank all of its members for their passion for Agriculture and FFA. FFA Week would not have been possible without the heart to the organization—the members. The 2016-2017 officer team is ready and willing to live out the FFA motto this next year: Learning to do, doing to learn. Earning to live, Living to serve.
