Crews have battled severe winter conditions since midnight and will be working around the clock in shifts to continue to improve the roads in District Three.

Interstate 65 was the concentrated area today requiring other crews who would normally treat other routes to assist plowing I-65.  As a result, many A routes were not touched along with B and C routes. Crews have made progress on I-65 since the winter storm has let up, but the roadway is still covered. With conditions improving it is hopeful the crews diverted to I-65 will be able to move on to parkways and other A routes tonight and tomorrow.

For those wondering about B and C routes, it could be late tomorrow or Wednesday before those get plowed and treated. Please be patient as our crews are working as hard as they can to make improvements to the roads.

With temperatures expected to be in the single digits motorists should not expect roads to be completely cleared tomorrow. We have pulled every piece of equipment we have access to in hopes of improving travel conditions as best as we can.

For more roadway information motorists can check the District Three Twitter account at KYTCDISTRICT3 as well as the district Facebook Page atKYTCDISTRICT3. Kentucky 511 will have road conditions, crashes, traffic and other delays listed from across the state on the website at 511.ky.gov , as well as the KY511 smartphone app.  People can also keep track of what areas are being treated here: http://511.ky.gov/winteractivities/main.jsf

Those who must travel during this winter storm need to exercise extreme caution and allow a lot of extra time to get to the destination.  Also motorists need to be mindful of plow trucks and give plenty of space from the truck as well as the snow coming off of the truck.
