The Logan County Board of Education has announced the selection of Ben Kemplin as the system’s new Director of Human Resources and Operations.
Kemplin is currently the principal at Olmstead School, where he has served since 1999. During his tenure, Olmstead School was named a Kentucky School to Watch, and is one of only three Kentucky schools to receive that distinction four times. Both Olmstead Elementary and Olmstead Middle are categorized as “Schools of Distinction” and rank in the 98th and 96thpercentiles respectively.
A press release from the school system says: “Mr. Kemplin is talented, eager to learn and always prepared. A leader among his colleagues, he is decisive and confident when placed in cooperative groups and committees. His motivation, self-discipline, self-confidence, and desire to do well give him the potential to succeed in everything he does.
“Ben has proven himself to be an instructional leader with a broad awareness of his students and faculty’s potential. Working with others, especially in his role as school principal, Mr. Kemplin has been innovative in use of staff, funds, and professional development to continually improve the climate and achievement of his students. He has helped teachers implement professional development agendas, planning and assessment processes, and collaborative monitoring that cultivate a learning community. He is an effective facilitator of professional discussions and knowledgeable on many aspects of public education. He is well versed in the use of technology. Ben is also part of a collaborative cadre that meets monthly with the goals of improving education for all students in the county and supporting one another.”

We are certain he will help us continue on our path toward excellence.”
In his new role, Kemplin will be responsible for all aspects of human resources, while adding a “focus on the future” to the operational departments of food service, maintenance, technology and transportation. He will begin in his new position on July 1, 2015.
Ben Kemplin is married to Katina, the principal at Adairville School, and they have one son, Jackson, 7. They live just outside Russellville, near the central office.
