U.S. Sen. Rand Paul will be the featured speaker at the Logan County Lincoln Day Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Sportsman Club on the grounds of City-County Park in Russellville.

The annual event is sponsored, as always, by the Logan County Republican Executive Committee. The doors will open at 5 p.m. with the dinner to begin at 6.

A meal will be served and entertainment will be provided by The Griffith Clan, part of the family of Robert and Jackie Gill. A silent auction will also be held.

Also on the program will be Congressman Ed Whitfield, State Sen. Whitney Westerfield, and a representative of U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell. Also given a chance to speak will be candidates for local office. The Republicans who have filed so far are jailer candidate Phil Gregory and magisterial candidates Dickie Carter (First District) and Jo Orange (incumbent Fifth District). More may have entered races by then, since the filing deadline is three days later on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

Sen. Paul, who is one of the people most often named as a possible Presidential candidate in 2016, is a dental specialist from Bowling Green whose wife Kelley is a graduate of Russellville High School, the daughter of Hilton and Lil Ashby of Russellville. He is in his first term in Washington, as is Westerfield in Frankfort.

Cost of the meal is $10 per person. Tickets can be reserved by calling Bobbie Jean Burnett at 726-3801, J.R. Cundiff at 725-5741, Zelma Cundiff at 726-3787 evenings or the office of Sheldon Baugh at 726-7616.

Larry Noe is Logan County Republican chairman.
