The Logan County Genealogical Society will host an all day seminar on Oct. 19 at Southern Heights Baptist Church’s activity building. Doors open at 8 a.m. with sessions from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. For lunch, an hour and a half break will be allowed for lunch on participants’ own. Coffee and nibbles will be available during the morning session.
Nationally known speakers are J. Mark Lowe of Springfield, Tenn. and Gail Jackson Miller of Bowling Green. Mark did work for the "Who Do You Think You Are?" PBS show on Lionel Richie's ancestors. His presentations this summer include sessions at the Kentucky and Tennessee state libraries and genealogical societies, Arkansas and Montana genealogical groups. He will speak in Nashville during the week he presents at Russellville.
Gail has over 40 years experience in researching in the Kentucky and Tennessee area, having been born in Muhlenberg County and now living in Bowling Green.
"Circuit Riders and the Early Methodist Church" and "Whiskey, Brandy, and Southern Migration" will be the topics Mark covers. Gail will be speaking on "Using Kentucky Equity and Criminal Court Cases to Complete Your Research" and "Murder and Mayhem on the River: How the Harpes Can Help You Get More from Your Family Stories."
There may be limited seating, so get your registration form now from the Archives or library and turn it in with the required $35. Vendors will have one table per ticket so if you have Logan County or genealogical materials for sale, request a table along with your ticket.
