Christian Care Communities, Kentucky's largest faith-inspired, non-profit provider of affordable housing and long-term care for Older Adults, has announced the acquisition of Hartford (KY)- based Pro-Care Home Health, a leading, full-service home healthcare provider. With this acquisition, Christian Care Communities adds in-home care to its wide array of senior living services and programs, including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing care and adult day care.

One of the new locations is on Nashville Street in Russellville.

“Christian Care is now the only long-term care provider with home health in the state,” said Dr. Keith Knapp, president and chief executive officer of Christian Care Communities.

Ahead of the Trend

“More than ever, people want care in their own homes, and this acquisition positions Christian Care ahead of this significant trend,” said Dr. Knapp. “More than 69 percent of home health care patients are over age 65, and through our Home and Community Based Services, led by Mary Lynn Spalding, we're creating a true continuum of care that gives Older Adults and families affordable care options that fit their needs and lifestyle.”

Since 1986, Pro-Care Home Health has provided a full range of in-home care services, seven days a week, in the west central Kentucky counties of Logan, Christian, Daviess, Grayson, Henderson, Hopkins, McLean, Ohio, Warren and Webster. In 2011 alone, Pro-Care made 60,000 home health visits.

Christian Care at Home

The acquisition of Pro-Care, which will operate as Christian Care at Home, immediately increases Christian Care's employee base by 10 percent and patients served by 20 percent.

“All patients and Pro-Care employees have been successfully transitioned to Christian Care at Home,” said Mary Lynn Spalding, vice president of Christian Care's Home and Community Based Services. “It's been a seamless transition with patients continuing to receive high quality, compassionate home care from trusted, familiar faces.”

Christian Care at Home will open a new office in Christian County and on Christian Care's Village Manor campus in Warren County. It will retain all Pro-Care office locations in Logan, Ohio, Hopkins and Daviess counties. It will provide full service, in-home care services, including skilled nursing care, physical, occupational and speech therapy, assistance with activities of daily living, nutritional management and education, medical social services and coordination of durable medical equipment.

“These comprehensive home health services are designed to give Older Adults the ability to live at home for as long as possible, said Spalding. “And when that's just not possible, they will know Christian Care's senior living communities, Christian Health Centers and Adult Day Centers are there for them to provide additional support and services as needed.”
