The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 snow & ice team is monitoring weather forecasts for possible winter weather in the District 3 area tonight. Anti-icing operations have been deployed to interstates and expressways in the District 3 area ahead of a possible winter weather system. The National Weather Service Louisville is predicting rain changing over to snow late tonight. A minor accumulation of less than an inch of snow in some areas is expected.
Temperatures are expected to hover near freezing overnight which could create hazardous driving conditions. Motorists should be mindful that bridges and overpasses will freeze before the roadway does. The primary concern is slick travel on bridges and overpasses when the roadway is clear. This could be particularly hazardous on high-speed routes. Motorists are advised to use slower speeds and be on the lookout for slick travel conditions, particularly in the northern District 3 counties, overnight.
The District 3 snow & ice team will be monitoring conditions throughout the night and will deploy crews as needed to treat roadways.
