Kaden Yonts & Tanna Fulgham post top Chandlers grads' grades

Chandler’s School recognized the accomplishments and promotion of 59 eighth graders Friday, May 24, in the school gymnasium.

Following the invocation led by Kilby Long, several students received individual honors. Award winners included Skyler Deen (Art), Tanna Fulgham (Mathematics), Lauren Fuller (Citizenship and Perfect Attendance), Channing Huffines (Band), Sarah Manning (Science and Pam Thomas Academic Team Award), Thomas Warren (Citizenship and Perfect Attendance), and Kaden Yonts (Algebra I, Social Studies, Science, and Language Arts).

Kaden Yonts was recognized as Valedictorian, and Tanna Fulgham was named Salutatorian.

The Gold Seal Presidential Awards were given to students who had a 90 percent or above grade average. Students recognized included Anakin Armstrong, Quincy BeLiles, Kelsie Blackburn, Makenzee Bryan, Levi Craig, Skyler Deen, Andrew Duncan, Tanna Fulgham, Lauren Fuller, Channing Huffines, Sarah Manning, Nolan Roberts, Bethany Thompson, Clay Winchester, and Kaden Yonts.

The Silver Seal Presidential Awards were given to students who showed outstanding educational growth, improvement, commitment or intellectual development. Students recognized included Jacob BeLiles, Logan Gidcumb, Earon Hudnall, Skylar McCarley, McKenzie Robinson, Ella Scott, CJ Sharp, Kendall Taylor, and Thomas Warren.

Students who maintained a 94 percent or higher average in all of their seventh and eighth grade classes were recognized as Honor Students. Students recognized included Kelsie Blackburn, Skyler Deen, Andrew Duncan, Tanna Fulgham, Sarah Manning, Nolan Roberts, Clay Winchester, and Kaden Yonts.

Jr. Beta Club members were recognized with gold cords. Members included Makenzee Bryan, Kamdyn Coomer, Branna Cropper, Andrew Duncan, Tanna Fulgham, Lauren Fuller, Logan Gidcumb, Channing Huffines, Kilby Long, Kendall Taylor, Bethany Thompson, and Clay Winchester.

Kassidy Justice, graduating Senior at LCHS, was recognized as the 2019 recipient of the Aviles, Bush, Webb Scholarship.

Board of Education representative Phil Baker then presented eighth grade diplomas to the Class of 2019: Anakin Armstrong, Aidan Ashmore, Jacob BeLiles, Quincy BeLiles, Kelsie Blackburn, Alex Bond, Hayden Brewer, Mason Brown, Makenzee Bryan, Sierra Burruss, Kamdyn Coomer, Makayla Cornelius, Levi Craig, BaLee Crawford, Branna Cropper, Skyler Deen,Caleb Dulworth, Andrew Duncan, Tanna Fulgham, Lauren Fuller, Katelyn Gardner, Logan Gidcumb, Caden Graybeal, Avery Haley, Austin Hankins, Earon Hudnall, Channing Huffines, Ellea Hyde, Hunter Jessup, Trevor Johnson, Travis Kodiak, Finley Lack, Gabby Lack, Seth Lamb, Kilby Long, Sarah Manning, Harley Mayhugh, Skylar McCarley, Dylan McDaniel, Destiney Parrish, Austin Rice, Nolan Roberts, McKenzie Robinson, Gavin Sapp, Ella Scott, Chase Sears, CJ Sears, Corey Sharp, Landyn Shifflett, Jaryn Strader, Kadin Switzer, Kodey Sydnor, Kendall Taylor, Bethany Thompson, Madison Trefethen, Thomas Warren, Clay Winchester, Damon Wright, and Kaden Yonts.

The ceremony closed with a benediction led by Makenzee Bryan.
