BETA Club Success
The RHS BETA Club, headed by RHS Science teacher Tanya Mullen took their talents on the road as they competed in a wide variety of academic, social, and artistic competitions. In the end, the RHS BETA Club claimed a 2nd place finish in a field of 13 teams from around the Region. The following are the respective winners:

Juniors take the ACT
In March, every Junior in KY will take the ACT as provided by the state. For most schools, this will be the first time students are able to take the test, which has long lasting and far reaching impacts on their futures after high school. For some, taking the test before the junior year March date is an option, but in order to do so, they must pay for the test themselves.
Not the case for RISD Juniors. Backed by the RISD Board of Education and Superintendent Bart Flener, ALL RHS Juniors are got a jump on the test, taking it this past Saturday at no cost to them. Costs for the tests were covered by state waivers as well as by Board backed funding. This early taking of the test will allow students over half a year to see what they need to work on prior to the March ACT date.
RHS Band Finishes in Top 10 at State
The Panther Marching Band closed out the marching band season at Frederick Douglass High School where the Marching Panthers took a Top 10 Finish in Class A with their show “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” The Marching Panthers concluded another successful season under the direction of Brian Brown and Trevor Cardwell and will now turn their sights on All State Band selections.
