Russellville Independent COVID Update:

We are now into our fourth week with students returning to face-to-face instruction. Russellville Primary Academy and Stevenson Elementary have returned all students to full face to face instruction with minimal issues. Russellville Middle/High School have returned with a hybrid A/B model with half of the students attending on Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday with all students online on Friday also with minimal issues. 

We currently have a little over 300 students enrolled in the Virtual Learning Academy. The VLA students are working from home and do not attend any face- to-face instruction. 

Here are the current updates:

Russellville High School:

*Two students have tested Positive.

*Six students have been identified for contact traced and quarantined.

*Two teachers have been identified as contact traced and have been quarantined.

Russellville Middle School:

*Three students have been identified for contact traced and quarantined.

Stevenson Elementary School:

*Four students have been identified for contact traced and quarantined.

Russellville Primary Academy:

*One preschool student tested Positive.

*Fifteen preschool students have been identified to be contact traced and quarantined.

Virtual Learning Academy:

*Three students have tested Positive.  (They do all their work online from home)

The Center for Disease Control guidelines require schools to identify students who are identified as contact traced because they may have been within six feet of a student who may test positive for more than 15 minutes. This is a precautionary measure for the safety of students and staff.

I applaud all staff in the schools for their adherence to CDC guidelines and the administrative teams for providing the support. While there is a spike in COVID cases throughout the state, please know our school teams continues to work daily to provide a safe and clean environment.  The identification of students who are not feeling well has been met by a responsive team who isolates the child, contacts the Logan County Health Department, school nurse and child’s parents/guardians. 

We continue to treat all our schools and buses with an electrostatic spray at night to kill COVID germs.  Buses are also treated again after morning routes. High-touch areas are cleaned throughout the day.  All staff and children are wearing masks, social distancing and washing hands. Hand-sanitizing dispensers are placed throughout all our buildings. 

Parents, we really appreciate your support and patience with our staff as we have implemented a new way of doing things this school year. We continue to ask for your support and if your child is sick or not feeling well with two or more symptoms of COVID, please have them tested or see a physician to rule out the possibility of having COVID before returning to school. We are entering the allergy and flu season, so it makes it even more difficult. 

We are doing the very best we can to protect, love and provide a quality education for your children. 

Please know your child’s safety is the utmost importance to us, but we also know the social, mental and educational wellbeing is also important as well.
