Middle school students at Chandlers recently spent a day focusing on African American history.

Students learned of many prominent African American figures as they researched inventors and scientists, learned of the Children’s Crusade in Birmingham during the Civil Rights Movement, and enjoyed stories presented by Michael Morrow of the West Kentucky African American Heritage Museum and Research Center in Russellville.

Mr. Morrow and Eddie Allen brought some artifacts and displays to share, as they taught the students about significant people with Logan County roots.

By reflecting on their own beliefs and past events, students recognized they have a voice which can shape their community and world.
