Logan County High School is pleased to announce that senior Matthew Edgar has been selected as a National Merit Finalist.

In September Matthew was notified that he had been selected as a semifinalist, representing less than 1 percent of high school seniors in the nation.  Matthew now has the opportunity to compete with the nation’s most academically talented seniors for National Merit’s 7500 scholarships.

“I am extremely honored and thankful that I have been selected,” said Edgar. “This will be a huge help for my postsecondary education.”

Matthew entered the National Merit Scholarship program as a junior, when he along with over 1.6 million others took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Matthew is the son of Mark and Claire Edgar of Russellville.
