Tis the season, and Russellville High School English teacher Bethanie Hargett-Slack is in the Christmas spirit.

Student Jayden Hammer was personally asked by Mrs. Hargett-Slack to help her with a special project for the holiday season. Inspired by another school doing a huge Christmas tree created out of books, she and Jayden decided to put forth their creative efforts and create a mini-version in her classroom.

The tree—one of Hargett-Slack’s favorite projects to date—was made out of approximately 43 books.

The hardest part of this project, according to Jayden, was trying to balance all of the books and making sure they wouldn’t fall.

Jayden and Mrs. Hargett-Slack finished their project on Dec. 5, placing it atop a filing cabinet in the classroom for all to see.
