 Travel Club
Travel Club will have its first informational meeting on the year on Tuesday, Aug. 21, in the RHS library. This club is sponsored by world-traveler, explorer, wanderer, and RHS Spanish teacher Jennifer Rogers. There are many opportunities to travel around the world and this meeting will tell you all about next summer’s trip to Paris and Rome. If you are interested in becoming a globe-trotting Panther this summer, make sure to stop by and see Mrs. Rogers for more information.
 Student Body Council
Student government is an organization that takes the students’ concerns to the administration, which allows them to have a voice in the operations and control of the school as a whole. Any student in grades 9-12 students may apply for a position on the student council. The RHS Student Council is looking for good candidates in each grade for President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Each class will also get a representative, with elections taking place in the week of August 20-24. Applications may be obtained from Mrs. Rogers or Mr. Robbie McLellan.
Make sure to get your application in, vote, and help the student voice be heard!

 Meet the Panthers:
Friday night, August 10, in the Jim Young gymnasium, Russellville Jr/Sr High School kicked off their Fall sports with “Meet the Panthers.” At the event, all fall sports players were introduced and coaches were recognized. To wrap up the night, head football coach Mikie Benton gave a concluding statement to the crowd. He discussed the team’s progress and goals ahead of the first official game of the season

Soccer:
On Monday, Aug. 13, the Russellville Soccer Team opened up its season with a landslide win, 8-3, against Monroe County at home. Kevin Vera, the team’s main scorer, had a total of 3 goals and 4 assists to help lead his team to victory. The next night on the 14th of August, Russellville battled at home once again against the Warren East Raiders. The Panthers started off strong in the beginning of the first half to lead 2-0; however, in the start of the second half, the Raiders turned the game around with a quick 5 goals to take the lead. But, this did not upset the Panthers as they made an incredible comeback to tie the game in the last minute, 5-5. On Saturday, the Panthers defeated Campbellsville to move their record to 3-0-1. This coming Tuesday, the Panthers take their great start on the road to face 1-1 Logan Co. in the first Clash of the Cats varsity meeting.
