Crittenden Drive Summer Series studies Strengthening the Church Family

For the seventh straight year, an eight-week series of talented ministers speaking on related topics to a central theme is ready to begin at Crittenden Drive Church of Christ just off West Ninth Street in Russellville.

The theme for the 2018 Summer Series is “Strengthening the Church Family.” Each session begins at 7 p.m.

For example, the opening night speaker this Wednesday is Bryan Dill, minister of Southside Church of Christ In Hopkinsville. His topic is “The Church Family is Strong When It Loves as it Should.” The related Scripture is John 13:34.

Among other speakers are Richard Harp, son of Crittenden Drive minister Scott Harp and his wife Jenny; Geoffrey Sikes, whose wife Joanna is a former teacher at Russellville Christian School, which is housed on the Crittenden Drive campus; David Shannon, president of Freed-Hardeman University; former Crittenden Drive minister Andrew Phillips; and former Crittenden Drive dean Steve McCarley.

The lineup of Wednesday Summer Series speakers is as follows:

Aug. 15: David Gaines, minister of Lehman Avenue Church of Christ, Bowling Green. “The Church Family is Strong When It Loves as it Should” I Corinthians 2:7

Aug. 22: Richard Harp, minister of Deerfoot church of Christ, Trussville, Ala. “Strengthening the Church Family” Acts 16:5

Aug. 29: Geoffrey Sikes, minister of Trenton Crossing Church of Christ, Clarksville. “The Church Family is Strong When Knowing the Church is Saved” Acts 2:47

Sept. 5: Garry Hill, Hortons Chapel Church of Christ, Belton. “The Church Family is Strong When Leadership is Taken Seriously” I Timothy 3:5

Sept. 12: David Shannon, president of Freed Hardeman University. “The Church Family is Strong When it Engages in Soul Winning” Acts 8:4

Sept. 19: Andrew Phillips, minister of Graymere Church of Christ, Columbia, Tenn. “The Church Family is Strong When Resolving that Truth Matters: I Timothy 3:15

Sept. 26: Steve McCarley, worship minister of Franklin Church of Christ. “The Church Family is Strong When it is Faithful” I Corinthians 4:17
