The first Logan County 4-H/FFA Youth Terminal Hog Show and Sale, which is expected to become an annual event, was held on Sept. 5, at 5 p.m. at the Logan County Agriculture Arena. The Logan County FFA had three participants, Mallory Whitson, Noah Rust, and Zach Milam.

Former President Andrew Milam also participated along with Jaynes, Blayne, and Lathan Campbell, sons of our Advisor, Mr. Jay Campbell.

These participants were tall and small and included any 4-H or FFA member. They had to have shown at the Logan County Fair hog show June 13 and be old enough to walk the hog.

Mallory Whitson earned overall Grand Champion.  Her hog weighed 324 pounds and sold for $5.75 per pound to Covert Camera.  Zach Milam won Senior Showman award along with Supreme Showman with his hog, weighing in at 235 pounds. Whitson, a freshman FFA member, earned Intermediate Showmanship and Reserve Supreme Showman.

We congratulate the above FFA participants and also would like to thank Warren Beeler, Executive Director at Governor’s Office of Agriculture Policy. for judging the show.  The FFA would also like to give a special thanks to Tim Haley, for auctioning the hogs and to Farm Credit for sponsoring the pig board. All participants enjoyed a bone-in butterfly chop, the meal was Sponsored by the Kentucky Pork Producers and prepared by the Hog show chairman, Eric Heard.  For all the sponsors that supported this new program we thank you.
