The 2016 RHS Marching Panther Show of Bands was a huge success yesterday at Rhea Stadium and we are certainly glad the rain cleared out for this event! We were proud and honored to have hosted the following schools this year: Dawson Springs, Warren Central, Warren East, Greenwood, Franklin-Simpson, Logan County and
Nashville McGavock. All bands performed very well and provided an evening of great music at Rhea Stadium.

Congratulations to the Logan County High School Band on receiving the Reserve Grand Champion Trophy for having the 2nd highest overall score of the evening, with McGavock High School receiving the Grand Champion Award for the evening.

In addition to all the work put into this event by our band members, there is a large amount of “behind the scenes” support from local businesses, staff members, parents and members of the band booster program who work to ensure that this event represents our school in the highest way possible. On behalf of Russellville Jr/Sr High School, I offer a huge thanks for your support and we look forward to next year’s Show of Bands!

The RHS Marching Panthers will be in action this Saturday at the Logan County Band Show. Good luck to our band students and Mr. Brian Brown/staff!

The RHS Varsity Football team continues to dominate their Friday night opponents! This week’s victim was the Todd County Rebels! Congratulations to Coach John Myers and his staff on such a successful beginning to this season. The team will be traveling to Murray High School Friday night and we would love to see a large crowd travel with the team! We anticipate this being another great victory for the Panther Football team this season!! Go Big P!!!

Seven of our talented sophomores have been selected to participate in this year’s Youth Leadership Logan program, which begins this week. This Youth Leadership Logan Program is developed by the Logan County Chamber of Commerce that offers a vast array of community insight for individuals who desire to play a significant role in the development, growth, and activity of the county.

In order to create community activism and involvement among the youth of the county, seven Logan County and seven Russellville High School Sophomore Students from each school system are being invited to participate in Youth Leadership Logan Program. The program is designed to mirror the Leadership Logan program of which RHS Senior Tara Gilbert participates and represents our school, along with members of the community.

This year’s selected participants from RHS include the following students: Anna Shoulders, Ethan Paul, Maleah Buckner, Elly Myers, Jacob Naylor, Shawn Steele and Katie Holloman. Congratulations to these awesome Panthers, as we know they will represent us very well with this endeavor.
