Chandlers Middle School’s robotics team, the Bionic Bears, recently placed 1st in their division at the regional Robo Challenge Xtreme Tournament held at Auburn School.

This year’s theme is Avalanche Rescue. The competition consists of mission requirements for which the students design, build, and program an EV3 robot to accomplish those missions, earning points for their team.

The event provides team members with valuable experience in the areas of engineering design process, technology, and mathematics applications. Additionally, students engage in collaboration with peers, learning to cooperate in a team environment to accomplish shared goals.

The Bionic Bears will move on to compete in the State Competition at Rupp Arena on April 22.

Team members participating in the Regional Competition included: Matthew Abney, Ethan Baskerville, Dana Boone, Drake Cornelius, Schon Crawford, Joshua Dukes, Maggie Dukes, Ezekiel Epley, Ethan McDaniel, Courtney Rainwaters, and Asa Taylor.
