On the week that minister Andy Walker spoke on the chapter in Exodus about the Plague of the Frogs, Crittenden Drive Church of Christ’s Outdoors Ministry will study frogs of close and personal Friday night.
Crittenden Drive Outdoors will hold its 2nd Annual Frog Gigging Tournament on tomorrow night, “rain or shine.”
Groups of four are invited to participate in the tournament. The fee is $20 per person, which includes dinner, a tee shirt and prizes.
Teams can do the gigging at the pond of their choice. “If they don’t have access to a pond, we’ll find them one,” says David Johnson, one of the Crittenden Drive deacons who is deeply involved in the Outdoors Ministry.
Only frog gigs are allowed, “no .22 rifles, no firearms of any sort, not even an air rifle.”
Participants are required to have a current hunting or fishing license.
Prizes will be awarded to the first-place team and for the biggest fish.
Billy McCarley is the deacon in charge of the Outdoors Ministry, which is based on the theory that Christians can share doing things they enjoy in settings other than a church building.
The pre-tournament meeting and meal begin at 6 p.m. at the church building. Blast-of is scheduled for 7:30. Teams are to return to the church building at 2 a.m. for weigh-in.
