On Tuesday, March 10, a select group of Adairville students addressed city officials and visitors at the Adairville Town Hall Meeting. The purpose of the presentation was to educate the community about the Leader in Me program at Adairville School and how the program is being used to meet the needs of students.

Kayleigh Williams, a 7th grader, shared Adairville School’s accomplishments and academic successes.  Eighth grader John Hendricks presented a PowerPoint slideshow to introduce the community to the 7 Habits of Happy Kids and the Leader in Me Program, which is now an integral part of Adairville School’s culture.  Eva Bouldin, a 4th grader, and 3rd grader Bella Gaddis described the jobs that they have in their classrooms, and how they enjoy taking ownership of their task each day.

The Leader in Me, Franklin Covey’s Education process for teaching leadership at the elementary school level, is being used by more than 150 elementary schools in the U.S., Canada, Singapore, Australia, Japan, Hungary and the Philippines. The process, of which The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is a foundational piece, inspires young students to develop the skills and self-confidence to lead their lives and succeed in the 21st Century.
