Red River Rendezvous this weekend

The 18th annual red River Meeting House Primitive Camp Meeting & Rendezvous will be held this weekend, Oct. 11-13, at the historic site on KY 663 near Schochoh.

The schedule of events follows:

*Church services:

*Friday at 7 p.m. Tim Harris, pastor of Woodburn Baptist Church, will speak.

*Saturday at 7 pm.  Robert Operia will speak.

*Sunday at 10 am. 18th century communion service. Dennis Nie will officiate.

 

*Activities:

*History lesson:  2 pm on Fri. and Sat. by Laura Blankenship Gove

*Rico Tyler, master teacher with Skyteach Observatory from WKU, will be joining us to observe the

night sky on Friday, Oct.  11 (after church service). We will observe the moon, constellations  

and whatever else we can find in the sky with his telescopes.

*Melanie Meadow, author of "Color Blind" will have book signing for her new book "The Waking

Up” (a historical fiction novel based on the Frontier Revival beginning at the Red River Meeting House) on Saturday, Oct. 12.

*Benefit auction for the RRMH Operational Fund at 1 pm on Saturday.  (Flintlock rifle made by   

  Mike Miller will be given away during the auction.)

 

*Demonstrations:

 *will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.  Lots to see and do including:

*Dulcimer demonstrations (local handmade dulcimers for sale)

*Local honey available for sale on Saturday

 

*Coy's Barbecue Grill on Wheels will be the food vendor.

*Event closes at the conclusion of the Sunday service.

*No camp fee           *Camping for primitive and modern (w/o water or electric)             

*No pets                                                          *Firewood and water are furnished
