As is often the case on weekends every May, Saturday, May 11, 2013 will be one of the busiest days of the year in Logan County, weather permitting.

Two car shows and two outdoor music venues are a major part of the entertainment. A pair of those intersect in Adairville.

The 9th Annual Adairville-South Logan Chamber of Commerce Car and Tractor Show, part of the beginning festivities for the 67th Annual Adairville Strawberry Festival, will be held Saturday, May 11 from 1-4 p.m., on the Adairville town square. Registration cost is $15 for the first entry and $5 for each additional entry by the same owner. Registration begins at 11 a.m. Saturday. The 2013 Car and Tractor Show will consist of four categories competing for first and second place trophies. Trophies will be awarded in the car, truck, tractor, and lawn tractor categories. First and second place trophies will be determined by the participants. Two “People’s Choice” trophies will be awarded with the winner determined by spectator voting.

The Strawberry Festival Car and Tractor Show will include music, food, vendors, and prizes to be awarded by raffle drawing. For more information visit the Adairville-South Logan Chamber of Commerce website at ASLchamber.com or call 270-772-0954. Brent Holman is the chairman.

Going on at the same time in Adairville, Clay Bilyeu, Kenneth Williams and Dea Howard will be providing musical entertainment from 1-4 p.m. on the Town Square. Bilyeu’s traveling music show is always entertaining.

Saturday night, Bilyeu and his wife Debbie will be orchestrating their monthly free music and specialized vehicle show. He says, “Saturday is our next Summer Nights Cruise In., It’s usually on the square but this month we are having it at The Tractor Supply Parking lot, actually at the end down near the Russellville High School, That’s on 9th Street, or Highway 79 south, whichever you want to call it! It’s over across from Arby's. It starts at 5 p.m. and goes till 9. We will have our usual stuff going on, music and singing. In the 50/50, our part of that goes to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. They are doing such great work to help our youth out! We have two food vendors, as well as Arby’s and Slappy’s, so you won’t be hungry!”

The other car show will be in Lewisburg at Damron’s Grocery & Garage. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and costs $10 for the first vehicle and $5 for each other vehicle. Categories for cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors will be provided. Food, concessions and fun will be offered. Trophies will be given out for each category at 2 p.m.

RRFD Annual Fundraiser

The Russellville Rural Fire Department will hold its annual fundraiser on Saturday at 5 p.m. Door prizes, cotton candy, kids’ bouncy and a grand prize of $300 are part of the program. The meal will consist of pulled porkloin plate for $7 or a hot dog plate for $4. Beans, cole slaw, chips, dessert and drink will be served with the plates. Cake walks and an auction of many donated items are on the agenda. A live band will be featured for the entertainment. Cheryl Allen is the RRFD chief.

EEA Spring Fly-In

The annual EAA Chapter 1165 Fly-In will be held at the airport from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A grilled hamburger meal and aircraft displays will be available. Young Eagle Flights for ages 8-17 will be offered, but parental approval is required. For more information, call Doug Miller at 792-4993.
