Logan County High School is pleased to announce that Matthew Edgar and Kaitlyn Foster have been chosen as the school’s representatives for Wendy’s High School Heisman Kentucky finalists.

The Wendy’s Heisman program was created in 1994 by founder Dave Thomas after he went back to high school at age 61 and completed his General Equivalency Diploma. Since then Wendy’s has honored over 600,000 of the nation’s high school seniors who exemplify the values of giving back to their communities, treating people with respect, continuing education and excelling on the athletic field.

“These students are known by their teachers and friends for their commitment to excellence. We are excited and honored that a program like Wendy’s High School Heisman is also recognizing their hard work,” said LCHS Principal Caycee Spears.

Matthew Edgar is a senior who plays both soccer and tennis. He is the captain of the tennis team. He was chosen to the all-district soccer team. He is president of Student Council, and president of Cougars for Christ. He is a member of FFA, TARS, BETA, and the Renaissance team.  He is also an LCHS Student Ambassador. He is a national merit semifinalist. He was chosen as a Kentucky’s Governor’s Scholar this past year. Matt plans to attend college and study chemical engineering.

Kaitlyn Foster is an LCHS senior who plays soccer and is a member of the school’s archery team. She has qualified for the state and national archery tournaments all four years of high school. In 2015 she qualified for the World Archery Tournament. She is treasurer of the BETA club and is a member of the school’s student council and Law and Book clubs. She was chosen to participate in the Murray State Commonwealth Honors Academy this past year. She is leaning towards attending Murray State University and majoring in the medical field.

As school winners both Edgar and Foster will be eligible for consideration for state finalists.  LCHS is proud of both of these students and wish them the best going forward.
