Here’s a look at three previously unreported softball wins for the Russellville Lady Panthers, all on their home field:

RHS 10, UHA 3

Nine runs in the first inning made this game a breeze for Coach Calvin Head’s Lady Panthers. In order, Cierra Collins and Tara Gilbert singled before Tonisha Hampton tripled them in. After an out, Johnea Pendleton reached and scored when the shortstop botched Macy Meacham’s grounder. Brooklyn Ray was safe on a fielder’s choice. Susanna Higgins walked, Taryn Gray not only moved the runners up but reached herself, Ray stole home, and Collins reached on a fielder’s choice, advanced on the catcher’s error, and scored on Gilbert’s ground ball.

The tenth run came home when Ray singled in the third, Gray walked, Collins grounded out, and Ray scored on a passed ball.

Gilbert pitched the win, striking out seven and walking five while giving up six hits.

Anna Fitzpatrick, Rachel Snyder and Malori Wilson scored the runs for University Heights. Snyder tripled.

RHS 3, Jo Byrns 1

After the visiting Tennesseans scored a run in the top of the first inning, the Lady Panthers scored the tying and what proved to be the winning runs in the bottom of that gram.

After an out, Gilbert doubled, Hampton singled and Allison McDaniel walked. With two outs, Meacham singled in Gilbert and Hampton.

McDaniel scored an insurance run in the third inning. With two outs, she reached on a two-base error by the right fielder. Pendleton walked, and Ray singled in McDaniel. Collins also had a hit.

Gilbert was the winning pitcher, giving up a single run on three hits and a walk while striking out five.

RHS 3, Trigg County 2

The Lady Panthers scored two runs in the fourth. Gilbert walked, and Ray, who had moved up in the batting order, tripled her in. Ray then scored on a ground ball RBI by McDaniel.

Ray then rewarded Coach Head even more for her promotion by singling to lead off the second extra inning. She scored when the Lady Wildcat second baseball booted McDaniel’s grounder to end the game.

Abby Bush and Hannah Colbert scored the runs for Coach Toree Rogers’ team.

As usual, Gilbert was the winning pitcher. She gave up the two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out two in nine innings.
