Logan County High School has named Todd Adler as its new head football coach. Adler, who had served as the middle school head coach for the past three seasons, is an LCHS alumnus, starring in football, basketball, and track during his high school career.
“I look forward to the challenge of making Logan County Cougar football both a competitive and respectful program,” said Adler. “I plan to set the expectations high for these young men and have no doubt that they will rise to meet those expectations.”
LCHS Athletic Director Greg Howard said that Adler stood out from the other 23 applicants because of the relationships he has established in the community and with the current players. “Coach Adler has done an outstanding job building our middle school program, and I have no doubt that the high school team will be successful under his guidance,” said Howard, who was Adler’s high school basketball coach.
According to Adler, the work begins immediately. “I am anxious to get started and cannot wait for everyone to see what this program is capable of accomplishing.”
Adler and his wife, Dedra, who is a teacher at LCHS, reside in Logan County and have three children, Brea Croslin, 13, Brenley Adler, 6, and Brett Adler, three.
Todd Adler has high school coaching experience. He served as assistant to his wife when she was head coach of the Russellville Lady Panthers basketball team.
“The best football player I ever coached at Logan County was Todd Adler,” long-time Cougar head coach Lee Proctor told The LoJo last year.
Adler was chosen to coach the West squad in the Middle School East-West this fall after leading the eighth grade Cougars to the second round of the state playoffs.
“I’m a very proud mom of the new head football coach at Logan County High School,” Shelly Johnson says. “Once a Cougar, always a Cougar.
Shannon Silvey Williamson, one of the parents/grandparents who ardently support Cougar football regardless of the outcome of games, says, “I've never been more excited about the future of LCHS Football. Todd Adler, we love you and are VERY proud to call you our new coach!”
Adler's job is not an easy one. The Cougars have the longest losing streak in the state. Steve Duncan, who came to LCHS with a marvelous resume, could not turn that trend around in two years before announcing his retirement.
"I promise I will work harder than anyone else to make sure we have success," Todd Adler says.
