Logan County High School head football coach Steve Duncan stepped down Friday, Oct. 30, after the Cougars' final game of the 2015 season. Duncan, who has been in education for 36 years and coached football for 33 years, spent the last two seasons at the helm for LCHS.
"I have been honored to be the head football coach at Logan County for the last two years," Duncan said. "I apologize to the loyal fans, parents, and supporters for not bringing the victories that we worked so hard to get. I have been tremendously blessed by the Good Lord to work with some very talented young men that I have grown to love as my own sons. Thank you, Logan County.“
Duncan, who helped three different schools play for a state championship, said that his greatest memories are being able to coach his three sons, Zipp, Drey, and Christian, in high school football.
"On behalf of Logan County High School, we wish Coach Duncan and his family the best in their future endeavors," said LCHS principal Caycee Spears. "We appreciate the time and effort Coach Duncan put forth while he led the program."
According to Spears, the search for a new head football coach is already underway with the hope of having someone in place in time for off-season conditioning. "Our desire is to hire a quality individual who will take our football program to the next level."
