Senior Nick Blann added gold and silver to his treasure chest Saturday. The recent graduate of Logan County High School won the state championship in the triple jump and was state runner-up in the long jump at the Class 2A state meet in Lexington.
Athletic Director Todd Adler says Blann was only six inches short ong jumping f getting two golds.
Logan track excelled in jumping at state. In addition to Blann’s double medal day, Nia Scipio earned a bronze medal in the girls division with a third in the triple jump, She also placed seventh in the long jump.
Other events involving jumping skills include the hurdles. The next best finish by a Logan athlete were Cleo Bragard’s fifth in the 300-meter hurdles and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles.
“Our athletes showed up and showed out on the big stage today!” Adler says. “Congratulations to these athletes and coach Elijah Sells for a great track season.”
