Logan jumpers, runners and throwers qualify for state

The Cougar and Lady Cougar track teams competed in the Region 1 2A track meet Monday, May 19, at Calloway County High School. Ten Logan County High School athletes qualified for the state track meet, which will be held Friday at the University of Kentucky, beginning at 8 a.m.

The Lady Cougars finished third as a team at region and the Cougars fourth in their division.

Athletic Director Todd Adler says that at least one of them, senior Nick Blan, “has a really good chance to be a state champion.” He won the region in both the triple jump(45’3.5”) and the long jump (21’5.5”).

Also qualifying were:

Jayron Jefferson- Shot Put 

Damani Goodloe- 3rd Triple Jump 

Cole Christmas- 2nd 400 meter dash

Cleo Bragard- 2nd in100 meter hurdles, 3rd 300 meter hurdles, and 4x100 meter relay

Liliana Veigel- 4x800 meter relay, 800 meter run, & 4x100 meter relay

Nia Scipio- second in both the girls’ Triple Jump and the Long Jump, & 4x100 meter relay 

Elizabeth Veigel- 4x800 meter relay & 4x100 meter relay

Katelyn Haas- 4x800 meter relay

Amelia Larson- 4x800 meter relay
