A week before they knew another Clash of the Lady Cats awaited them in next week’s district tournament, the softball teams from the Land of Logan met in their second Clash of the regular season.

Coach Gary Gettings’ Lady Cougars won the game 10-3 to complete the regular season sweep of Russellville. They had won their April 1 game at Russellville 10-6.

In the second game, Maddie Burgess and Haley Henson both hit two-run homers for the Lady Cougars. Burgess joined Reese Wetton with two hits each and they both scored a run.

Brenley Adler, Kallie Taylor and Caris Taylor all doubled. Kallie drove in three runs. Also getting a hit were Macie Clinard, Anne Owen and Addison Holloway. Sadie Violette and Holloway each scored twice. Clinard, Caris Taylor and Adler also scored.

Burgess and Henson worked the only two walks the Lady Cougars managed off Lady Panther pitching. Wetton stole the only base Logan attempted.

Addison Cartas pitched the complete game win. Only one of the three runs she allowed was earned. She gave up seven hits and four walks but struck out six.

Rylee Grayson, KK Davenport and Ja’eda Poindexter led the Lady Panther offense. Grayson had three hits and scored a run. Davenport tripled, singled and drove in a run. Poindexter hit a home run.

Chloe Penrod singled and walked. Aniyah Hampton walked three times and scored a run.

Penrod was the starting pitcher and took the loss. Grayson gave up only one run in two and a third innings of relief pitching. Hampton gave up three runs, but she got the last five Logan outs.
