Russellville hopes history repeats itself at region tomorrow. Logan County would prefer that’s only true in Russellville’s half of the brackets.

When the teams from the Land f Logan open regional play at the WKU softball field, 13th District champion Russellville (23-11, 6th rated in the region with a .58185 RPI) will play 16th District runner-up Clinton County (17-14, 12th rated with an RPI of .50518).

Coach Ryan Davenport’s RHS girls crushed Clinton 16-1 on CCHS field at Albany. This was in the All A regional on April 2, a stepping stone for a state Class A Final Four appearance a few games later for the  Lay Panthers.. Addie Mosier pitched the win. Reese Croslin had three hits and scored three runs. Even more impressive were Crissy Higgins’ three triples and five RBIs.

Two weeks ago, Coach Mark Woods’ Lady Cougars (18-14, 8th rated, .58525)  lost 6-1 to 15th District champion AC-S (18-14, 9th rated, .55410). Nora Epley doubled in Maddix Mowles, who had walked, with Logan’s only run. Starting pitcher Shayna Johnson also had two hits with Hailey Burgess adding a single. Lady Cougar ace Gettings didn’t pitch in this one.

The LCHS-AC-S begins at 11 a.m. and the RHS-Clinton game starts at 5. The semifinals will be Sunday afternoon and the finals Monday.
