Spears, Sears and Matthews lead Chandlers grads

Chandler’s School recognized the accomplishments and promotion of 41 eighth graders Friday, May 25 in the school gymnasium.

Following the invocation led by Ethan Jenkins, several students received individual honors. 

Award winners included Kaitlyn Baer (Citizenship), Ethan Jenkins (Pam Thomas Academic Team Award), Savannah Markham (Art), Rhianna Matthews (Mathematics), Kaylin Reinitz (Band), Gracee Spears (Algebra I, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Pam Thomas Academic Team Award), David Thomason (Citizenship and Pam Thomas Academic Team Award), Ally White (Science), and Promise Willhite (Perfect Attendance).

Gracee Spears was recognized as Valedictorian, and Rhianna Mathews and Casey Sears were named Co-Salutatorians.

The Gold Seal Presidential Awards were given to students who had a 90 percent or above grade point average.  Students recognized included Kaitlyn Baer, Kallie Carpenter, Blake Crafton, Aiden Horn, Ethan Jenkins, Brandon Mason, Rhianna Mathews, Cameron Matthews, Caleb McCoy, Courtney Rainwaters, Kaylin Reinitz, Casey Sears, Kailyn Shrum, Gracee Spears, David Thomason, Ally White, and Promise Willhite.

The Silver Seal Presidential Awards were given to students who showed outstanding education growth, improvement, commitment or intellectual development. Students recognized included Drake Cornelius, Theresa Crisp, Bridget Holman, Isaiah Lee, Ashton Easley-Nole, Savannah Markham, Lexy Sisk, Savannah Skipworth, and Asa Taylor.

Students who maintained a 94 percent or higher average in all of their seventh and eighth grade classes were recognized as Honor Students.  Students recognized included Kaitlyn Baer, Blake Crafton, Ethan Jenkins, Rhianna Mathews, Courtney Rainwaters, Casey Sears, Kailyn Shrum, Gracee Spears, David Thomason, Ally White, and Promise Willhite.

Alyssa Lowe, graduating Senior at LCHS, was recognized as the 2018 recipient of the Aviles, Bush, Webb Scholarship.  

Board of Education representative Phil Baker then presented eighth grade diplomas to the Class of 2018:

The ceremony closed with a benediction led by Aiden Horn.

Faculty and staff members of Chandler’s School would like to thank all of the graduates for their determination and dedication and wish them all continued success.
