Logan County High School is proud to announce the appointment of sophomore Keyleigh Harlan to the Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science. Keyleigh, the daughter of Sarah Harlan of Russellville, is one of only 95 students from across the Commonwealth to be accepted into the Academy’s class of 2019.

The incoming class has representatives from 50 different Kentucky counties.  Applicants into the program are evaluated based on ACT/SAT scores, high school grades, awards, extracurricular activities, responses to essay and short answer questions, letters of recommendation and an interview component which featured WKU faculty members, community leaders and Gatton Academy alumni.

At LCHS, Keyleigh has been an active member of the Beta Club, Teenage Republicans, the Superintendent’s Teen Council, DECA Club (reporter) and Student Y (vice president). She is also a member of the Track & Field team, placing 7th at Region in discus. Away from school, Keyleigh is a member of the Dripping Spring Baptist Church.

Keyleigh has already registered to take Arabic as a cultural language and is “super excited to be accepted and looking forward to meeting new people from around the state.” She added, “I’m going to miss the people at Logan but Bowling Green isn’t that far away.”

Her future plan is to become a psychologist or work in a STEM-related field.
