At the regular June meeting of the Logan County Board of Education Tuesday, the board voted to hire Paul M. Mullins as the new superintendent of schools and secretary to the board and approved the contract employing him for a four-year term (2016-2020).
Mullins—with 22 years of experience in education—replaces Kevin Hub, who was employed as superintendent in 2014 and is leaving to become the superintendent of the Scott County Schools.
Mullins, who is presently the superintendent of the Garrard County Schools, has served in that position since the 2013-14 school year. In addition he has served in the following positions during his educational career: the principal of LaRue County High School (2005-2013), principal of Caverna High School (2004-2005), principal of Lewisburg School (pre-school through eighth grade) (2000-2004), assistant principal and athletic director of Nicholas County High School (1999-2000), teacher in Elizabethtown (1995-2000), and teacher in Hardin County (1994-1995).
In addition to coaching in the finals of the girls state basketball tournament, he has been named state Administrator of the Year and has served as president of the Kentucky Association of School Administrators.
He has earned an associate degree from Elizabethtown Community College and a bachelors and masters degrees and a Rank I in school administration from Western Kentucky University.
Paul Mullins is married to Tonda, and they have three sons, Christian, a senior at Western Kentucky University, and twins Dylan and Matthew, both juniors in high school. The Mullins family plans to move to Logan County in the near future.
