The Site Based Decision-Making Council at Olmstead School has announced the selection of Bonnie Watson as the school’s next principal. She was selected on Tuesday night from what has been called “an outstanding pool of thirteen applicants.

Watson is currently serving in the role of assistant principal at Olmstead School, where she has been since 2010. Prior to that, she was a middle school language arts teacher with the Owensboro Independent School System. Watson began her career teaching elementary school in Henderson.

Dr. Kevin F. Hub, superintendent of Logan County Schools, welcomed Watson to her new position. “Bonnie will be a wonderful addition to the Logan County leadership team,” Hub said. “Her vision and knowledge of quality curriculum, instruction, and assessment as well as her enthusiasm for learning make her an excellent choice. She possesses all the characteristics to lead this outstanding school. Olmstead School will continue the tradition of excellence Logan County is known for across the Commonwealth.”

The Olmstead SBDM Council is made up of three teachers, Kathleen Bailey, John Shemwell, and Rhonda Yates, and two parents, Melodie Bingham and Jimmy Kent Wilson. Superintendent Hub chaired the SBDM Council during the principal selection process.

Mrs. Watson will begin her role as principal on July 1.
