Former Logan County School Superintendent Marshall Kemp received the Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA) Distinguished Service Award this morning at the association’s annual summer leadership institute in Louisville, Kentucky.
Presented annually since 1973, KASA’s Distinguished Service Award is given to a retired school administrator who has exhibited exemplary education leadership ability and has brought honor to his or her colleagues, to the profession, and to him or herself.
“Mr. Kemp has been an icon in the education field in Logan County and throughout the state for over 42 years,” says his successor, Dr. Kevin Hub. “He has served on various KASA committees, legislative advisory panels and other local and state organizations. He has impacted the lives of numerous people as a teacher, building administrator, central office administrator, adjunct professor for Western Kentucky University, and as superintendent for two school districts.
“While leading one of the top 25 school districts in the state, Mr. Kemp always emphasized the importance of student achievement. He values education at high levels for all students and often reminds educators that they may be the only lifeline a student has out of their current circumstances.”
