William “Rusty” Clark was named president of First Southern National Bank following a November 2009 meeting of the First Southern Board of Directors.
“Rusty Clark has been instrumental in developing members of our leadership team and executing growth initiatives, both of which have helped put us in a position to be a strong community bank,” said Jess Correll, Chairman of the Board of First Southern National Bank. “Rusty is an extremely talented leader. His leadership style and experience made him a natural choice for the position of President of the bank.”
As President, Rusty Clark will focus on retail delivery and leadership development, which includes, among other things, local market growth initiatives and new product development.
Clark began his career with First Southern in 1995 in the bank‘s Lancaster office as a loan officer, then as Community President. Clark was named Regional President in 2004 and he was instrumental in managing the successful acquisition of three banks owned by South Central Bankshares, headquartered in Russellville. Clark and his family relocated to the Logan County area during the acquisition, where they still reside today. Prior to his work with First Southern, Rusty served as a school teacher and coach for Boyle and Garrard County schools.
Clark was raised in Lancaster, where he graduated from Garrard County High School. He is also a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, where he was a member of the Colonel baseball team. Clark, the son of Curtis W. and Nancy Clark of Lancaster, is married to Raye Ann, also a Garrard County native. They have two children, Trevor, 18, and Molly, 15.
Clark takes on the role of President, which has previously been held by First Southern Chairman Jess Correll. Correll remains at the helm of the Bank’s Board of Directors.
The announcement of Clark’s promotion immediately followed the First Southern Board’s appointment of Tommy Roberts as Chief Executive Officer. Roberts, who resides in Monticello, has been with First Southern for 20 years. Roberts succeeds Ron Hyder, who resigned as CEO on Nov. 17, 2009.
First Southern has 22 offices in Central and Western Kentucky including locations in Ballard, Caldwell, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Lincoln, Logan, Madison, Pulaski, Wayne and Warren counties. First Southern believes in providing exceptional customer service and making fast, local decisions. For more information about First Southern National Bank, visit www.fsnb.net.
