Braxton Haley and Oliver Gripshover lead Chandler's graduates

Chandler’s School held eighth grade graduation ceremonies in the gymnasium at 6 PM on Friday evening, May 23.  Families, school staff, and students gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of forty-three learners.  The beginning and ending of the celebration highlighted the learner’s lives from babies until now through multimedia presentations. 

Braxton Haley, student, officially opened the event, followed by a welcome from principal Bobbie Sue Jones. Oliver Gripshover, Lexi Holloway, Macie Clinard, and Memphis Shoulders presented speeches they had written reminiscing about past events and encouraging growth in the future. 

Groups of students were recognized as Presidential Education Award recipients, honor students, and Junior Beta Club members. Gold seal Presidential Education Award recipients for Outstanding Academic Achievement included: Julia Anderson, Maci Bromm, Lillian Brown, Macie Clinard, Brooklyn Cooper, Kenlee Duncan, Piper Galben, Adalynn Grimes, Oliver Gripshover, Braxton Haley, Annabelle Holloway, Kaidyn Holloway, Memphis Hyde, David Lambert, Ashtyn Law, Brelynn Leyhe, Ava Mayes, Emma Meredith, Austin Moore, Stealie Shaw, Emma Stranger, Kyndal Stratton, and Ava Tichenor. 

Silver Seal Presidential Education Awards were presented to Thomas Burysek, Mackenzie Manning, John Shoulders, Nevaeh Smith, and Destiny Yates in recognition of their growth and commitment to continued improvement.

Lillian Brown, Macie Clinard, Brooklyn Cooper, Piper Galben, Oliver Gripshover, Braxton Haley, Annabelle Holloway, Kaidyn Holloway, David Lambert, Ashtyn Law, Ava Mayes, Emma Meredith, Austin Moore, Stealie Shaw, and Emma Stranger wore purple cords to indicate their honor student statuses. Honor students maintain a 94 percent overall average in grades seven and eight in the content areas of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. 

The final group to receive recognition were Junior Beta Club members who donned Gold cords and included: Julia Anderson, Macie Clinard, Brooklyn Cooper, Piper Galben, Oliver Gripshover, Braxton Haley, Kaidyn Holloway, Memphis Hyde, David Lambert, Brelynn Leyhe, Emma Meredith, Austin Moore, Stealie Shaw, Memphis Shoulders, Emma Stranger, and Kyndal Stratton.

For individual awards, Braxton Haley and Oliver Gripshover were named as valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.  Other content awards were presented as follows:

Algebra I – Oliver Gripshover

Band – Emma Stranger 

Language Arts - Oliver Gripshover   

Mathematics – Kaidyn Holloway 

Science - Braxton Haley

Social Studies – Kaidyn Holloway

Pam Thomas Award - Piper Galben  

Citizenship- Brooklyn Cooper, Memphis Hyde

After students were presented their diplomas by Lynette Baker, Chandler’s Logan County Board of Education member, a high school senior who was a former graduate of Chandler’s School, Malorie Scott, was recognized as the recipient of Aviles, Bush, and Webb Scholarship. The scholarship serves in memory of three unique individuals who lost their lives together in a fatal car crash. The contributions Frank Aviles, Debbie Bush, and Paulette Webb made to our community while serving as teachers at Chandler’s School shall long be cherished.  Finally, graduate Ashtyn Law dismissed the assembly.  

As always, Chandler’s School enjoys events with our families and always wishes to maintain partnerships that support our learners best. 

We wish the Chandler’s Class of 2025 the best in their future and look forward to watching them continue to grow and flourish with the plethora of new educational opportunities with which they will be blessed at Logan County High School and beyond.
