With the new school year often comes new faces, and this year is no different at Logan County High School. This year, the school welcomes five new faculty members with varying degrees of experience and expertise.
Rachel Cunningham begins her teaching career at LCHS in the mathematics department. She is teaching Geometry and Algebra II in the same school in which she too took these courses only a few years ago. Rachel received a BA in Mathematics, Science & Math Education—middle grades, from Western Kentucky University. Interests aside from mathematics include music and drama—she played the role of Mulan at LCHS in 2013.
Wesley Estes begins his teaching career at LCHS in a department already synonymous with the Estes name: Agriculture. Coming to LCHS with a BS in Agriculture and concentration in Education from Western Kentucky University, Wesley assumes the position from which his father, Bryan Estes, retired last school year. He represents the 5th generation to live and work on his family farm raising commercial Angus cattle. When not farming, Wes likes to play golf and go to the lake.
Derek Jackson, aka Coach DJ, teaches math and science in the Special Education Department. He comes to LCHS with a degree in Marketing and Management from Murray State University. When not fulfilling his instructor’s role, he enjoys being a husband, father, and assistant coach on the LCHS Football team.
Tyler Meacham comes to LCHS from Russellville High School with eight years of teaching experience. He holds a BS in Physical Education from Western Kentucky University and a MA in Teacher Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands. Away from school, Tyler enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and being on the lake. He is a big St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Dustin Scott comes to LCHS having taught at Chandlers last year. He works in the Special Education (LBD) program. He has an undergraduate degree from the Physical Education program at Western Kentucky University and is currently working on a Masters in the K-12 LBD Teaching Program at the University of the Cumberlands. Dustin is an assistant boys’ basketball coach at the high school. When not at school he enjoys watching sporting events, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Logan County High School is off to a great start this year. The faculty, staff, and administrators are excited about our new faculty members and the possibilities the school year presents.
