Adairville Archery’s Middle School team completed another very successful season on May 13th and 14th at the NASP National
Tournament in Louisville. Adairville despite not having the services of two of the top three female shooters finished a strong 23rd out of
104 teams by shooting a 3,222 score. Ashville Middle School from Ashville Alabama won the top prize with a score of 3,403, Trigg County Middle from
Cadiz, Kentucky was second with a 3,376 score, and Logan Hocking Middle from Ohio was third with a 3,346 score.
The Cardinals were led by Jenny Colbert’s 282 score Jenny is an eight grade student shooting in her last tournament as a Cardinal, next year she will
be wearing Cougar blue as she continues her Archery career at LCHS. Meagan Ferguson had another solid tournament since switching to a left hand bow and
shot 267, followed by Grace Mclellan 263, Christian Lynch 265, Sam Knight 246, and Warren Brinkley 246.
The guys were led by Austin Rayno and Taylor Blakemore at 280, Joseph Hallman at 271, Dakota Smith 268, Alex Hughes 266, Preston Knight 265, Hunter
Gloyd 265, Will Robey 260, Winn Perry 247, Dylan Byrum 245, Gunnar Gloyd 236, and Samuel Noe 220 rounded out the scoring.
Kristen Hendricks, Laura Hendricks, Kristy Baker, Drake Baker, Billy Knight and Amber Anderson were not able to make the trip due to other commitments
but were part of the team’s success throughout the year. This included an eighth place finish in the State tournament, and second in the region.
We are proud of each student who competed this year, we appreciate the hundreds of hours of time donated by coaches, Kevin Ferguson, Val Hughes,
Richard Hughes, Nick Anderson, Richie Gloyd, Kevin Rayno, Ashley Rayno, Missy Perry, Terry Knight, Kelly Knight, and Tim Knight I am sure I left
someone out there were so many who helped make this season a great success. The Red River Fish and Game Club deserves much of the credit for the
success of the program the members have provided the team with a practice facility since the program began. This allows our students to practice when
the gym is being used for Volleyball or Basketball. We appreciate their dedication to the youth of Adairville not only for the practice facility but
for hosting Jakes Day, and other events for the students to participate in throughout the year.
And very special thanks to Debbie Robertson; we refer to Debbie as our number one fan. Debbie’s daughter gave up archery mid way through the year to
concentrate on cheerleading. But Debbie never missed a tournament including trips to the state and national tournaments; she was a mother to anyone who
needed a hug and her dedication, and love for all kids symbolizes what Archery is all about.
